Pattaya International Fireworks Festival 2010

On the weekend of the 13th and 14th of August 2010 the second Pattaya International Fireworks Festival was held on Pattaya Beach. This year’s wireworks display is reputed to be the largest ever seen in Thailand.

Pattaya was very busy over the weekend as many people travelled to the city for the display. On both nights Beach Road was closed to allow many pedestrians to pack the shoreline to watch the display. The final night was opened with an extravagant display in honour of the Queen’s birthday a couple of days earlier.

This video starts off by showing the crowd that gathered for the display before showing some of fireworks display.

Songkran 2010

Songkran in Pattaya is now finished for the year. It seems like the festive gets wilder and wilder every year. Anyone wondering out in the daytime is like to get wet during the one week the the festivities continue for.

Songkran originated in the north of the coutry and spead south only relively recently. Songkran is tradionally a time for cleansing and paying respoect ot elders. It also marks the traditional Thia new year.  To most foreigners the festive is marked by the throwing of water over other people. The trowing of water is part of the cleansing process.
